Partner Case Study
The Knight Foundation
Project Description
Amplify: The Knight Foundation builds engaged communities to spearhead transformational change. The organization launched the Knight Technology Engagement Initiative, investing $2.23 million in five projects that use digital tools to help people connect for social good. Building on a partnership that began at TEDWomen, the Knight Foundation attended TED2011 to connect with leaders in the technology space.
Activate: An original short film about the initiative launched the Knight Foundation’s partnership at the TEDWomen conference and on TED.com. They also hosted a lunch for 125 TEDsters, where they shared the inspiring stories of the incredible beneficiaries of Knight funding.
Engage: The Knight Foundation hosted a conversation and asked the TED community this question: How do you use technology to engage and transform your community? They got answers from the co-founder of Facebook and Jumo.com founder Chris Hughes, Code for America's Jennifer Pahlka, and Conor White of the newly formed Localocracy.
